Veneto Jazz introduces the 20th edition of the Summer Jazz Workshop, one of the most qualified international seminaries of jazz music. A workshop that will take place for the first year in the city of Chioggia, next to Venice, from July the 15th to July the 22nd 2012, in the primary school G. Marconi classrooms.
Organized in collaboration Veneto Region, Venice Province and the Performing Arts Department of the city of Chioggia, the Summer Jazz Workshop is the international destination for jazz and jazz education. This workshop is an integral part of the Veneto Jazz Festival, one of the most important European jazz festivals drawing many of the most elite international artists from all corners of the world.
Be part of an intense eight days non-stop workshop with dialy lessons including Saturday and Sundays, taught by eight of the leading jazz players and educators from the world-renowned New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music in New York City, in collaboration with the Music Accademy “F. Venezze” in Rovigo.
The workshop consists of instrumental classes, theory, combos, a Big Band and a unique Special Topics class highlighting such topics as ear training, rhythm and practice techniques. Courses are divided into levels and students are evaluated and placed in the appropriate class. Students perform in small venues throughout the city culminating in jam session and outdoor public performances.
The workshop offers an opportunity to learn and study with the eight of the international leading jazz players and educators, with guitar, voice, double bass, piano, drums, trumpet, sax lessons accompanied by assistants and expert translators.

More than a hundred musicians from all over the world participate every year at the workshop, combining an extraordinary formative experience with a funny and relaxing summer study holiday, held this year in one of the most fascinating cities of the world.
There will be time for studying along with many opportunities for exchange and play music during the jam sessions in the nights and the exhibitions that will take place during the traditional “Sagra del Pesce”, the local annual fish fair in the section Jazz & Fish, culminating in the final concerts of the students on Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd.
In these twenty years students came from all over Italy and from 25 different countries: Croatia, England, Mexico, Kosovo, France, Israel, Turkey, Holland, China, U.S.A, Brazil among the others… And many of them are today professional musicians, even being on the bill of Veneto Jazz and other festivals!
Participation fee: 360,00 euro, reduced fee for registrations and payments before 30th of May; 400,00 euro full fee.
