VENICE JAZZ FESTIVAL 2009


The second edition of the Venice Jazz Festival, is scheduled for July 27 – August 2 2009.
The lineup includes a series of concerts in the prestigious Teatro La Fenice, in Piazza San Marco and in other significant areas around the city, with a carnet of collateral events that will take place in locations and in the public “campi” around Venice.
Artists of international fame, emerging talent, innovative offerings of the jazz scene alongside big names. Venice Jazz Festival is the high point of the city’s cultural programs, using a formula of audience involvement in varying hours of the day and night.

From the showcase of selected record labels at Teatro La Fenice to aperitivo-time, live at Rialto, to jazz lunch & dinner in selected Venetian hotels to concerts in traditional theaters, to late night DJ sets in nightclubs. The artistic offerings aren’t limited to music , but are enhanced by art exhibits, readings, themed conferences and culinary experiences to climax in spectacular events in one of the most stunning piazzas of the world.

The attraction of the locations and above all, the outstanding program encompassing the best of national and international jazz is destined to be crowned among the top world-class events of its kind.

In 2009, Venice Jazz Festival (July 27- August 2) confirms its second year, crowned by an extraordinary event on a unique stage Piazza San Marco, with a concert by singer/songwriter Paolo Conte and the Symphonic Orchestra of Venice (July 31): a special production including elements from La Fenice Orchestra accompanied by a strong presence of the band led by Bruno Fontaine.



La Fenice Theater, shrine of music from around the world, will be the stage for exceptional events such as the concert by trumpet player Wynton Marsalis and his Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra (July 28) and the double concert by sax player Charles Llloyd in a quartet, and the All Star Band of Richard Galliano, world star of the accordion (July 29) accompanied by Gonzalo Rubalcaba (piano), Richard Bona (bass), Clarence Penn (drums and percussion).
